In order to facilitate the students of the region, Computer Science programme was initially offered by Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science & Technology, Nawabshah, as a three-year Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) in 1998-1999. Later on, the programme was offered as a four-year BCS (Hons) degree programme in the evening. With further improvements and since many years, the programme is being offered as four-years, full-time BS (CS) degree programme. Recently, in order to cope with HEC and NCEAC guidelines, the University syndicate has given this programme the status of a full-time teaching department, and has permitted to run classes in the morning session.

The BS (CS) degree programme offered by the Computer Science department comprises of 8-Semesters as recommended by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. The key objective of this programme is to deliver knowledge in the field of Computer Science to the students of the region. Further, the courses offered in this programme provide skills in computing profession in order to meet the requirements of the country and to enable students to develop reliable software products which meet the needs of its intended users. This is achieved by applying sound scientific, mathematical and engineering principles. The laboratory facilities at the department are equipped with Xeon / Core i7, Multimedia, Internet and Networks which provide an ideal environment for learning.
